LOS GATOS, CA–The internet has been abuzz with rumors about Netflix’s highly anticipated Chronicles of Narnia adaptation. Today they released a first look at the original series about four kids interacting with an otherworldly dimension and battling evil forces. The show will star Charlie Heaton as Peter, Natalia Dyer as Susan, Finn Wolfhard as Edmund, and Millie Bobby Brown as Lucy.

Additionally, Winona Ryder will appear as the White Witch, and David Harbour will provide the voice of Aslan–a character who is expected to die and then return. The Duffer Brothers have been brought on to direct. And since fantasy worlds typically involve elaborate costumes and mythical creatures of all kinds, Netflix has spent quite a bit of money in the Wardrobe department.

Some critics have suggested that the project might be derivative of other Netflix originals. “We’ve had great success so far with completely original shows on streaming,” said Reed Hastings, the company’s co-founder and executive chairman. “At this point, we figure–why rock the boat? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?”

“I’m really excited for the show,” said longtime Narnia fan Jack Staples. “As Amazon has shown us, major streaming services have done great with every classic fantasy book they’ve adapted so far, and produced some real cinematic gems from them too.”

Others are more skeptical but remain open to being proven wrong. “I really don’t think Netflix will handle it properly,” said fantasy aficionado John Tollers. “But hey–stranger things have happened, right?”

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Demogorgon will premiere in 2024, opening up a doorway to a whole new world of cinematic possibilities.

  1. Fascinating. I will note that these actors are not quite the correct ages that Lewis describes.

    1. Really? But every Hollywood adaptation has always been 100% faithful to the source material!
