JERSEY CITY–Kamala Khan, a.k.a. the superheroine Ms. Marvel, held a press conference this weekend to announce her 2024 candidacy for president. Khan has the full support of the incumbent president and the Democratic party.

Previously, it had looked like November’s election would be a rematch between the fanatical Red Skull and incumbent president Magneto. But many of Magneto’s supporters began calling for him to step down, citing concerns about his age and ability to serve in the role. A less commonly noted objection was a concern over Magneto also being a genocidal terrorist.

On Sunday, Magneto formally announced that he was dropping out of the race, putting his support behind much younger candidate Kamala Khan instead. “Kamala has the nation’s best interests at heart,” Magneto said in a press conference. “As a fellow mutant, I support her completely.”

While Khan wouldn’t be the nation’s first mutant president (John F. Kennedy was outed as a mutant following his 1963 assassination), she would be the first female, teenage, Pakistani-American, Inuman mutant president. Republicans are already criticizing Khan as a token candidate, chosen more for her minority demographics than her personal merits. Other voters expressed concerns over having a president who has so recently risen from the dead, or who is from the state of New Jersey.

A growing number of Americans still view both political sides as unfavorable and express uncertainty about the election. “Well, I’m definitely not voting for the Orange–I mean, Red Skull,” said Mart Spiegelan of New York. “But Ms. Marvel–don’t you think that’s kind of a stretch?”

Kamala herself doesn’t seem to think so, however. “I’ve been fighting and beating supervillains for years,” Ms. Marvel told the press, hoping to embiggen her chances of winning. “The Red Skull is just another supervillain, and I’m gonna beat him too.” Khan’s supporters expect her to be a Champion of justice for our great nation.

While not everyone may share Kamala’s confidence, we here at Marvelous Movies do. In fact, we’re certain Kamala Khan will be president in the future–as certain as if it’s already been written!
