METROPOLIS–Former president Lex Luthor is hitting the campaign trail once again–but facing multiple criminal indictments along the way. Luthor is dealing with charges pertaining to conspiracy, attempted world domination, and efforts to manipulate and overturn the results of the 2020 election. The controversial politician was processed at Belle Reve Penitentiary last week and had his mug shot taken before being released on bond.
Following his loss in the 2020 election, Luthor made unfounded claims of voter fraud and attempted to coerce Metropolis officials into creating extra votes in his favor. Evidence also suggests that Luthor masterminded the Legion of Doom’s infamous attack on the Capitol in early 2021. The former president is under investigation for charges connected to these two incidents, among others relating to his unethical business practices.
It’s still unclear how these charges will affect Luthor’s reelection campaign–or whether a potential conviction will disqualify him from being elected. Luthor himself has denied all allegations of criminal wrongdoing. “These Trumped-up charges are just a pathetic attempt by my enemies to discredit me before the election,” Luthor told Metropolis reporters at a press conference last week.
While Luthor is rapidly losing popularity with the moderate voter base, the diehard members of his party continue to defend him staunchly. “Lex is still the man we need to lead our country through tough times,” commented Metropolis resident Mercy Graves. “He’s the only one who can make Metropolis great again!” Political pundit Ben Lockwood agreed, expressing support for Luthor’s tough anti-alien policies.
Not everyone is convinced of Luthor’s innocence, though. “Luthor’s actions prove that he’s a violent criminal and a twisted maniac,” Superman told Metropolis reporters. “How is anyone in their right mind still supporting him?” Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane also voiced her strong disapproval of Luthor and his supporters, though nearly every word of her statement had to be censored for the press.
Luthor’s trial is expected to begin in early 2024. We here at Marvelous Movies hope to see justice done swiftly.
