BURBANK, CA–After the immense success of the newest Marvel film, Fantastic Four: First Steps, sources report that the studio is looking to fast-track a sequel. Slated for a late 2027 release, the sequel will be titled 2 Four 2 Fantastic. Here’s everything we know about it so far.

The film will focus largely on Johnny Storm/the Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), although Vin Diesel, playing Groot, will also appear in a prominent role. When Johnny takes the Fantasticar on a street racing joyride, he gets busted by the local authorities, who offer him a deal. In exchange for a clean record, Johnny must go undercover to help catch a notorious galactic bounty hunter: Groot!

Although Groot hasn’t crossed over with the Fantastic Four onscreen before, director Matt Shakman says that they’re branching out.

What follows is a wild ride full of fast cars and spaceships, twists and turns, deadly double-crosses, and high-flying hijinks! The villainous Ego (Kurt Russell) will also appear as a mysterious government agent who has faced off against Groot before and is trying to capture him.

The film will feature Sue Storm/Invisible Woman giving an impassioned speech about the importance of family. Vin Diesel’s character heartily agrees, saying “I am Groot,” which translates roughly to “you don’t need to follow the law when you’ve got family.”

2 Four 2 Fantastic is expected to spawn several more sequels, with titles tentatively planned as Fantastic Four: Tokyo Drift, Fantastic & Four, and Four Five.
