LATVERIA–Those archvillains have really done it now. Longtime Fantastic Four nemeses Victor von Doom (a.k.a. Doctor Doom) and Kl’rt (a.k.a. Super-Skrull) have joined forces to launch DoomSkrull, a new, openly villainous and sinister social media app.

“DoomSkrull shall be part of my plan to spread my message of Doom–first in my own country, and throughout the world,” Latverian monarch von Doom announced during a press conference. “The algorithm will show users increasingly negative posts and headlines, stoking the fires of their rage, hatred, and despair.”

“Under the guise of being social, they’ll actually grow more combative, cynical, and disillusioned–until they finally realize that their only hope lies in DOOM!” exclaimed von Doom, shaking a metal fist in the air.

“We will also use DoomSkrull to sow distrust among the humans,” added Kl’rt. “On social media, users can shift into whoever they want to be. Some will create falsely positive personas, inciting jealousy. Others will let their true barbaric natures finally emerge from the safety of cyberspace. People who once were ‘friends’ will see whole new, ugly sides of each other and grow increasingly distant.”

“Users will think they’re being social while they’re actually just alienating others and isolating themselves even further!” Kl’rt then looked to the sky and threw his hands up with a villainous laugh.

When members of the Fantastic Four were asked to address this crisis, their response was underwhelming. “It kinda just…sounds the same as every other social media app?” said Johnny Storm with a nonchalant shrug. “I don’t really see what the big deal is.” Ben Grimm attempted to look into the app for himself, but inadvertently crushed his phone in his fingers.

“Doom assures me he has no plans to unveil any further sinister purpose for the app–like using it for mass mind control or to steal people’s data,” Reed Richards commented. “It’s only evil in all the ‘normal’ ways that social media already is.”

Despite the creators’ blunt honesty about their sinister intentions, over a million users worldwide have already signed on to DoomSkrull in its first week alone. It’s almost as if great masses of people are willing to turn a blind eye to evil leaders and their destructive actions as long as they can keep their mindless entertainment.
