Captain Underpants Confirmed for Marvel’s Phase 4

BURBANK, CA–Captain Underpants, the half-naked superhero of children’s books and now an animated movie and series, will be adapted to live-action for the first time in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as announced at a recent a press release.

“We clearly didn’t have enough Captains in the MCU yet,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige when asked about the reasoning behind this surprise decision. “And of course, with Steve gone now, there’s an open slot. But we really think he [Captain Underpants] will fit in well with the current storyline we’ve got going on too.”

Originally appearing in epic novels by Dav Pilkey, Captain Underpants is actually Mr. Benny Krupp, an elementary school principal hypnotized by two mischievous students into becoming the waistband warrior. Under this hypnosis, Mr. Krupp reverts back into Captain Underpants whenever he hears the sound of fingers snapping. Thus, the three snaps with the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) will provide a perfectly fitting setup for a Captain Underpants crossover, Feige believes.

“Thanos, Hulk, and Tony have no idea what kind of power they’ve awakened with the three snaps,” Feige commented. “Well, Tony especially has no idea, because he’s…oh gosh, no. I’m not ready. I just can’t. Not Tony…WHY?!?” Feige promptly burst into flowing tears and was unavailable for further comment.

Jack Black will bring life to the titular hero on the big screen, wearing only a large pair of men’s white briefs and a flowing red cape for the majority of the film. “It shouldn’t be too bad,” Black commented. “I actually had a similar role and costume that was a lot like this already.”

Following Captain Underpants’s live-action debut, he is expected to team up with the remaining Marvel heroes in the yet-untitled Avengers 5.

Captain Underpants: The Waistband Soldier will premiere in 2021.
