BURBANK, CA–Closely following the Thanksgiving holiday, Marvel Studios executives have announced the release of a new Marvel Cinematic Universe film before the end of the year. Brie Larson will reprise her beloved role as Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, in a direct-to-Disney+ release titled Marvel’s A Christmas Carol.
Marvel’s A Christmas Carol will loosely adapt Charles Dickens’ beloved literary classic for the modern era. The film will portray Carol as a tough, strong, independent woman–though lonely, isolated, and too focused on her career at the holidays when everyone knows a woman should be focused on finding love and starting a family instead! Throughout the film, she will be visited by three spirits coming to her in the form of disgruntled fanboys. The first spirit will tell Carol that she needs to smile more. The second spirit will tell her that she needs to prove her readiness before she’s able to be a hero. The third spirit will show her a vision of Marvel movies to come if she doesn’t change her ways!
Carol will, of course, beat up all three spirits with her super strength and laser bursts, while constantly reiterating that “I have nothing to prove to you.” Along the way, the fiercely independent Carol will also meet and fall in love with a sensitive, flannel-wearing, small-town guy and his lovable dog while discovering The True Meaning of Christmas™.
The highly anticipated Marvel’s A Christmas Carol is also expected to feature some new bonus short films focusing on supporting characters. When Santa’s sleigh breaks down on Christmas Eve, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), and Talos the Skrull (Ben Mendelsohn) are forced to save Christmas, with Talos shape-shifting into Santa’s form and Fury and Coulson driving him from house to house in their flying S.H.I.E.L.D. cars. Antics ensue.
Another bonus short film will feature Goose the Cat (really an alien flerken) celebrating Life Day on the flerken homeworld. Audiences will be introduced to other adorable members of the flerken family, such as Goose’s father Itchy and son Lumpy, in a heartwarming holiday special that you won’t soon forget–no matter how much you wish you could.
Marvel’s A Christmas Carol will be available to stream on Disney+ on Christmas day.
