BURBANK, CA – Marvel Studios confirmed today that a Kang variant has already been introduced in Avengers: Endgame, two years before the release of Loki. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Benjamin Chang appeared briefly as a security guard watching Ant-Man’s return from the Quantum Realm. Chang has been confirmed as this world’s Kang variant.
This Kang variant is suffering from Kangnesia, a condition resulting in the complete loss of memory caused by a traumatic event, itself also forgotten. Despite a full feature documentary produced by Cool Abed Films, the best in the business, Kangnesia is popularly believed to be fabricated.
Regardless of its validity, the current literature on Kangnesia suggests it only occurs in select populations of Spanish teachers, disgraced community college students, keytarists, warlords, and dictators. Based on the villainous explanation delivered by He Who Remains at the end of Loki‘s first season, his different variants likely fit into one or more of these categories.
It is unknown what effect, if any, this revelation will have on the MCU at large or the character of Kang in general. But it can be inferred that he will be unpleasant, mentally and emotionally unstable, capricious, and power-hungry. There is also a strong possibility his war cry will be “Ham, guurrrrrrllll!”
