OPINION– With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever slated for a late 2022 release, Marvel Studios and director Ryan Coogler are left in a quandary: how do you replace the irreplaceable Chadwick Boseman? While rumors and theories are swirling about recasting T’Challa’s character, here are our top choices for taking up the Black Panther mantle.
Mike Colter. After two lackluster seasons of Luke Cage, we’d strongly encourage Mike Colter to invoke Marvel’s bad role clause and petition for a chance to be recast in a good movie.

Wesley Snipes. Long before the MCU began, Snipes had been trying to make a Black Panther movie happen since 1992. And haven’t you always wanted to see him play a Marvel hero whose name begins with Bla? There may be a lot at stake here, but we think his performance wouldn’t suck!

Danai Gurira. We’d love to see this badass Black Panther and Walking Dead alum get a chance in the spotlight. Who can Danai that she’d be an excellent choice?

Ben Kingsley. Marvel veteran Kingsley has also already voiced Bagheera–an actual black panther–in 2016’s The Jungle Book. How’s that for accuracy and representation?

Martin Freeman. While Freeman played a crucial ally of T’Challa’s in both Civil War and Black Panther, some viewers may object to this choice as he doesn’t quite look the part of the Black Panther. For instance, Freeman is several inches shorter than Boseman was.

Who do you want to see as the next Black Panther?
