OPINION–Staying at home. Social distancing. These are strange times indeed, and they’re enough to drive some people a little crazy. Thankfully, we already have an example to follow of someone who practiced self-quarantining almost perfectly: Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man. So in the upcoming weeks and months of being trapped inside your own home, we hope you’ll go re-watch Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and follow Scott’s lead in the following areas.

  • Work from home.
If you still have to work, make sure you do it from home, just like Scott did with his security business while he was on house arrest. Plus, if you can just imagine Luis (Michael Peña) narrating every conference call you have, then your workday will suddenly feel much more interesting.
  • Find creative things to do with your kids.
Scott shows us that being cooped up with your kids for weeks or months at a time doesn’t have to be a drag. It can actually be a lot of fun, especially if you transform your entire house into a giant cardboard maze treasure hunt ride! Bonus points if you’re also teaching your daughter important life skills, like how to steal valuable things without getting caught.

  • Learn a new skill.
Better yourself as a person by using your self-isolation to learn a new skill. Magic, anyone? You’ll impress your kids, your friends, and your coworkers. Unfortunately, government agents don’t tend to impress quite as easily.

  • Minimize social gatherings.
If you absolutely do have to break house arrest and get out once in a while, then stay in groups of no more than ten people, standing at least six feet away at all times. Scott pretty much only saw Hank and Hope Pym. And his daughter and ex-wife. And his three comic relief friends. But never all of them at the same time! (We’ll just forget the fact that he’s also a member of a large superhero team!)
  • Just stay alone!
Whenever possible, just stay alone by yourself to avoid transmitting your germs to anyone else. This was probably Scott’s greatest contribution of all! He spent five whole years in the quantum realm without seeing anyone at all, and he didn’t go out even once! Now that’s the kind of dedication we need to save lives!

Don’t make the virus into a Giant problem. It’s time to Ghost your friends and shrink this threat down!
