BURBANK, CA–In a breaking news report yesterday, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced that Gina Carano would reprise her role as Cara Dune for the upcoming sci-fi epic Dune. Carano, who portrayed former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune on The Mandalorian from 2019 to 2020, was fired from the show over a series of controversial social media posts.

“Somehow, Gina Carano has returned,” confirmed Oscar Isaac, Carano’s fellow Star Wars alum who also stars in Dune. Isaac was unavailable for further elaboration on this ominous comment.

“After Cara Dune got fired from Lucasfilm, she had to leave Nevarro and wound up on the planet Arrakis,” explained director Denis Villaneuve. “There, she meets Paul Atreides and comes to be involved with the royal family. And since Carano is already so vocal about her controversial politics, she should fit right in with this interplanetary political web!”

“Plus, she’s already got experience on desert planets with giant monsters,” Villeneuve continued. “I mean, who doesn’t want to see Gina Carano MMA-punching a sandworm in the face?”

At publishing time, Carano had posted a series of tweets comparing members of House Harkonnen to Nazis.

Dune: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on October 22nd.
