‘Walking Dead: Dead City’ Confirmed As Batman Prequel

NEW YORK–New details have emerged about The Walking Dead: Dead City, the next planned spin-off to the long-running show that ended last year. Sources confirm that the show will be a Batman prequel set within the DC universe, exploring the origins of Bruce Wayne’s parents.

Longtime Walking Dead fans know that the show will focus on Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Negan Smith (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). But astute observers have noted that this pair also portrayed Bruce Wayne’s parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, in 2016’s universally acclaimed Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. This means that Dead City will feature two characters who hate each other somehow falling in love and raising a son, and we’ll get to see young Bruce Wayne grow up in a zombified world where everyone is DCeased!

We expect to see Bruce’s parents (Cohan and Morgan) get shot in front of him early on in the show. But since we now know they live in a universe where the dead rise again, it explains why they can keep getting shot over and over again in new Batman movies every few years!

As Bruce gets older, he’ll embark on a crimefighting crusade and take on the mantle of the Bat–naming himself after his father Negan’s favorite weapon with which he brutally murdered his mother’s first husband!

“This prequel series will break new ground in the Batman mythos,” commented new head of DC Films James Gunn. “What? No, I don’t think anyone remembers Gotham or Pennyworth.”

“I just hope they keep the dark tone and that Gunn doesn’t make it all goofy,” Morgan said in an interview. “I’m not exactly Comedian material.”

The Walking Dead: Dead City: Dawn of Justice Begins premieres in June.
