HOLLYWOOD, CA–With increasing fan anticipation surrounding recent trailer releases in December 2019 and January 2020, Marvel’s Black Widow is now on track to be the biggest summer blockbuster of 2011.
Ever since the character’s cinematic debut in Iron Man 2 (2010), fans of the femme fatale super-spy have wanted to see her in action in a standalone movie. A 2011 release would capitalize well on the character’s recent popularity and also act as the perfect setup to develop her character more before 2012’s long-anticipated team movie The Avengers.
“We’re very excited for this movie and for this character’s potential,” said Kevin Feige, higher-up executive for Marvel’s movie studios. “Natasha is a complex character with a rich history for sure, and we definitely think now is the best time to tell it. We’re looking forward to having her character around in the Marvel universe for many more years to come.”
Following these comments, Feige seemed suddenly at a loss for words after being gently reminded by the Russo brothers to go and rewatch Avengers: Endgame.
Black Widow hits theaters in 2021. Maybe.
