BURBANK, CA–In an effort to revitalize two tired, failing franchises at once, Warner Bros. and Lucasfilm have announced an unprecedented joint venture. The two entertainment giants will collaborate for Star Wars Episode X: Join the Darkseid, which will also be a crossover with the DC Universe.

The plot will focus on the villainous Darkseid (Ray Porter), whose quest to conquer the multiverse leads him to the Star Wars galaxy. “Somehow, Darkseid returned,” commented Kathleen Kennedy in a press release, offering no further explanation whatsoever.

Darkseid will be joined by some of DC’s most notorious villains: the Joker (Mark Hamill), Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), and Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal). Opposing these villains will be some of the bravest heroes of the Star Wars universe: Luke Skywalker (Hamill), Obi-Wan Kenobi (McGregor), and the Mandalorian (Pascal). Studio executives believed doubling up on the main actors would help alleviate budget costs for the failing franchises.

J.J. Abrams and Zack Snyder have been brought on as co-directors for this groundbreaking film. After watching Zack Snyder’s 2021 director’s cut of Justice League, Abrams has reportedly taken on the name “J’onn J’onnzz Abrams.” Rian Johnson will take over Abrams’s directorial role for the four-hour film’s second act only.

While some fans have expressed concerns about the franchises’ new direction, they’re being spurred on by the hope of possibly seeing Batman with a lightsaber, which in itself would be so objectively and totally awesome as to render all arguments against the film entirely invalid.

Star Wars Episode X: Join the Darkseid will stream exclusively on DisneyMax in 2023.
