Today we chat with another fan to help clear things up in the wild and wonderful world of comic book movies!
Dear Marvelous Movies,
I recently watched The Flash, and I’m a little confused now. Everyone said it was supposed to reboot the DCEU and lead into James Gunn’s new DCU. But I know Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 are still coming out this year. So are they part of the DCEU or not? Is the DCEU truly dead?
From, Allen Berry of Central City, Nebraska
Great question, Allen! It’s true that the DC universe can be confusing, especially in a multiverse movie like this one. But there’s actually a very simple explanation that will clear everything up!
The main thing to remember when trying to make different DC universes all fit together is that DC actually has no idea what they’re doing. If you keep that in mind, then it’ll all make a lot more sense!
AB: …Oh. Really? I was hoping for something a little more substantial.
MM: Nope, that’s really all it is. Sorry!
AB: But I thought they hired James Gunn to help get things back in order.
MM: Yep! Supposedly.
AB: And the Flash changed the timeline in his movie so they can wipe the slate clean and start over fresh.
MM: That would make sense, now, wouldn’t it?
AB: …But they’re still releasing two more movies set in the old DCEU. And now I’m hearing rumors about a third Wonder Woman film too! So how does that make sense?
MM: Please refer back to our previous answer. DC has no idea what they’re doing! They can’t even decide if they’re really doing a reboot or not.
AB: Dang. You’re right.
MM: The truth hurts, doesn’t it?
AB:
MM:

AB: So does this mean George Clooney will be Batman again in the rebooted DCU?
MM: Oh, definitely. And, just remember–we called it years ago!
