SAN JOSE–Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige sent detailed plans about the upcoming film Avengers: Secret Wars to a journalist in a text message group chat, according to Christine Everheart, host of WHiH Newsfront. Everheart had been added to the group chat, which included a number of prominent Marvel actors from the Avengers films, just hours before receiving the previously unpublished plans.

As Everheart explains in detail in this clip from WHiH Newsfront, the Secret Wars plans she received from Feige included leaked details about the highly anticipated 2027 film, including which characters will return with surprise cameos and which heroes will meet tragic ends. It also disclosed in full detail exactly what the heck Marvel was thinking by casting Robert Downey, Jr. as Doctor Doom and whether or not the whole thing is a huge misdirect.

According to Everheart, the group chat included several of the recently announced cast members for next year’s Avengers: Doomsday, who are also expected to return for its sequel, Secret Wars. Among the names Everheart listed were Downey, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Tatiana Maslany, Nicolas Cage, Jonathan Majors, Stan Lee, and David Corenswet. Notably excluded from the list was Tom Holland, as he would have spoiled the entire plot already if he’d received the Secret Wars plans.

A seasoned journalist, Everheart first gained acclaim in the world of superheroes for doing a spread on Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, back in 2008. Incidentally, she also published a story on him for Vanity Fair the same year.

Marvel officials blasted Everheart following the leak, calling her “discredited” and “a failed journalist.” According to Feige, “We didn’t send anything to Everheart.” He later added, “What we sent her didn’t include any Secret Wars spoilers. It was actually the plot of Armor Wars. Very different!”

Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters in 2027.
