The holidays are upon us, but it can be tricky to remember which movies are appropriate to watch at which specific holidays. You wouldn’t want to watch a Christmas movie before Thanksgiving, would you? (No, you wouldn’t–it’s not allowed.) That’s why we’ve put together this handy list to guide you through the next several months–Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more!
Thanksgiving:
- Spider-Man (2002). It’s a Thanksgiving movie!
- Captain America: Civil War. Everyone talks about politics and gets mad at each other, so it feels seasonally fitting too!
Somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas:
- Spider-Man: No Way Home. Pay attention to the holiday decorations and winter weather in the background. It counts!
Hanukkah:
- X-Men: First Class. (Magneto is Jewish!)
Christmas:
- Hawkeye.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
- Batman Returns. Yes, it’s a Christmas movie.
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Also technically a Christmas movie. It’s got snow and that “Spidey Bells” song!
- Elf. Since it was directed by Jon Favreau, we’re Happy to count it as an honorary Marvel movie!
- Thor: The Dark World. It’s got elves, so it counts! Also, if Odin wore a red suit, he’d basically look like Santa.
- Iron Man 3.
Kwanzaa:
- Black Panther.
New Year’s:
- Also Iron Man 3, but only like those first 10 minutes. (Go rewatch it–you’ll see!)
Chinese New Year:
Valentine’s Day:
- WandaVision. Or, only the first couple of episodes, if you still want to kinda pretend it’s a nice romantic show.
St. Patrick’s Day:
- Daredevil. (He’s Irish!)
April Fool’s Day:
- Howard the Duck.
Good Friday and Easter:
- Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League (the Snyder Cut if you’re Protestant).
Arbor Day:
- I Am Groot.
Earth Day:
- The Incredible Hulk. (He’s from Earth. And he’s green!)
Cinco de Mayo:
Independence Day:
- Captain America: The First Avenger. What could be more American than punching Nazis?
Peter Parker’s birthday:
- Spider-Man 2.
Halloween:
